Vivant Skincare REVIEW

I recently got to try the Vivant Skincare line out and was so thrilled as I've heard so many good things about this brand! Vivant Skincare has been in the Biz for over 40 years and offers a great selection of wonderful skin care products for every skincare need!

I was thrilled to get my products in the mail, and a new skincare regimen that was super easy to follow. I started out with the Mandelic Acid 3-in-1 Wash designed to treat Acne, hyperpigmentation, and fine lines. 

I was nervous to put my Proactiv away while trying out this line, I won't lie. I held onto it for the first few days and then finally put it away as I could see the combination of both products was drying out my skin.

Once I started with the Face wash, every other day to start with, then moved to everyday, and up to twice a day after the first week, I started to really notice a difference. For one, I definently did not need the Proactiv! My skin was clearing up just fine with the use of this face wash. While the acne on my face (mostly my cheeks) has been chilling out a little anyway, where I noticed the biggest difference, was on my body. This wash can be used as a face wash, body wash, scalp acne treatment, and as a shaving cream! 

While I usually have a few zits on my chest and neck area, I had no zits on my body while using this product! I didn't notice any! Woohoo! I thought it was interesting that this could be used as a shaving cream, great for those prone to in-growns, so I decided to try it out. The wash is like a regular face wash gel, so I was unsure it would work while shaving, but it did a fantastic job! My razor glided across my skin and no nicks, and most importantly, no in-growns! I got a nice, super smooth, close shave while using my Mandelic Acid face wash on my body as a cleanser AND as a shaving cream!

For my day routine, I used the Normalizing Tonic after cleansing, and the Day Treatment Lotion Spf 15 I loved using the Tonic and loved seeing the extra dirt and oil I would sometimes see after using it. It really seemed to bring balance to my skin. 

The Day Treatment lotion is a nice lotion that isn't too thick for being an SPF. It has Zinc Peptides and Aloe to help reduce inflamed skin from Acne and Rosacea.

For my night routine I used the Derm-A-Renew after cleansing one day, and then the Totaloe Calming and Hydrating gel every other day, after cleansing. I noticed my skin would be a little pink after first starting these products, but it quickly went away after a few uses. 

The Derm-A-Renew is formulated with Vitamin A and gentle peptides to help minimize the appearance of fine lines, as well as smooth skin texture, and help reduce acne.

The Totaloe Calming and Hydrating Gel is an oil-free moisturizer used to calm acne, rosacea, and sunburned skin.

My skin seemed to like these products and my acne didn't! Yay! The acne cleared up completely on my body and cleared up a bit on my face as well. Where I noticed the biggest difference was my sun spots and acne scars lightening up.

 And Here is the after picture. While the lighting isn't the best, you can see that some of the acne scars have lightened up quite a bit, and there are fewer zits too! The zit on the neck is gone too! like I said, no sign of acne anywhere else on my body since I started using the Mandelic 3-in-1 Wash as a body wash. I think my skin looks a little tighter too.

I still have a ways to go but after 3 weeks of use, and only using most of the products every other day for the first week or so, I feel like I'm noticing good improvement of my acne as well as skin texture and tone.

How to Spot Treat an Inflamed Papule

1. Cleanse and tone your face with the appropriate products as recommended by your skin care professional.
2. Using a cube of ice, place directly onto the papule for 10 minutes, taking 30 second breaks so that the cold does not burn the skin.
3. Using a therapeutic mask product, dab a small amount directly onto the papule.
4. Let the product dry and stand for at least 12 minutes.
5. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
6. Pat your face dry with a towel.

"What to Do Wednesday": Boost Your Exfoliating Cycle

Here's a "What to Do Wednesday" skin care regimen from one of our in-house beauty experts Martha, that will be sure to boost your exfoliating cycle:
 
Always use the Exfol-A in the PM and skip a day if it’s too dry. This should last the first 2 weeks of the treatment, as your skin becomes acclimated to the products.

Don’t forget the ICE! Ice compresses are healing and bring down inflammation; apply after cleansing with BP 3% Acne Wash.

For the dryer areas (perioral) apply our Day Treatment SPF 15  for moisturizing.

Because the main objective here is to rev-up the normal 28 day exfoliating cycle, you are going to experience dryness first and then a light peeling.

Vendor Profile: Alana Mitchell from Skincare by Alana

Vivant Skin Care recently chatted with Alana Mitchell, founder and owner of our valued Orange County, CA partners Skincare by Alana and Spa Alana about skin care, her businesses and how she got her start in the industry. Here’s a recap of our conversation:

1.       How did you get your start in the skin care industry?

You could say I "grew up" in the beauty and skin care industry. My parents have owned beauty supplies, haircut salons and day spas for over 40 years. When I was a child, my day care consisted of hanging around our family businesses and helping out. It started at an early age. It may sound kind of cruel, but believe me, I developed my ecstatic obsession with skin care products at an early age as a result of this upbringing. I loved this sort of environment when I was a child, and I started learning about the industry at a very early age.

2.       What is the most important aspect of your business?

Customers service, bottom line. The reason why my online skincare business thrives in a looming economy and with so many competitors popping up is because I emphasize personalized customer service. I have live estheticians answer the phones and live chat where customers can get real help with their skin. Other websites discourage personal interaction, where skincarebyalana.com encourages it!

3.       How would you like for your customers to perceive your brand image?

I think my customers perceive Skincare by Alana as a place where they can easily get help purchasing the latest and greatest beauty products, and where they can keep up to date on the latest beauty and skincare trends. I have had many customers tell me they consider me their "online day spa” – what an honor!

4.       How important is social media to your business model and why?

Social Media is a necessary part of Skincare by Alana's marketing plan, but I am careful not to overemphasize it. We have an active Facebook page, Twitter account, YouTube page and so on and they are all getting quite popular. I have mostly utilized these accounts not to pursue new customers as much, but rather to make my website more personalized for current customers. Most of my products and vendor pages feature videos I have created to assist my customers and answer frequently asked questions.

 5.       Where do you see Skincare by Alana / Spa Alana in five years?

I was honored when Spa Alana (my on site day spa) reached the point in 2012 when we were no longer accepting new clients. Meaning, we were forced to consider it a "private day spa" due to the overwhelming amount of clients that were requesting to make an appointment. I never expected this, so I am not sure what direction to take it in! However, it has been quite humbling to take on some celebrity clientele lately. I want to make my celebrity clientele a little more of an emphasis in future years, as I feel it really helps the popularity of my website when I announce certain celebrity endorsements. Skincare by Alana in the next five years is going to get even more exciting. My goal is to push the envelopes of how skin care products are sold online. In 2013 we will be testing our new live video chat feature, which allows users to receive a free live skin consultation straight from their computer webcam. I have a hard time thinking five years ahead, but by then, I hope to be doing the exact same thing I am doing right now, helping people conquer their skin care problems.

 6.       Your thoughts on the Vivant Skin Care line / team?

The Vivant Skincare line and team have both exceeded my expectations. As you can see from my website skincarebyalana.com, I carry hundreds of skin care product lines. Meaning, I deal with a lot of companies. The great thing about Vivant, the products are almost always repurchased.  From my experience, this means the products REALLY work. As a retailer, this gives me the freedom to sell them with confidence. The 8% Mandelic Acid 3-in-1 Serum in particular is a favorite Vivant product of mine. The Vivant team is also really great. I feel like they are such a good match with our team, because we share a lot of the same marketing ideals and customer service values. I really enjoy working with Vivant Skin care.

7.       What do you like to do in your spare time away from your profession?

I love the spare time questions! What do I do in my spare time? I hang with my three year old boy and my husband. We live in beautiful Dana Point, CA, so there is always something to do like going to the beach, painting, shopping, etc. I am also really involved in my local church, and my husband and I are involved in a lot of local charity work. This is going to sound kind of weird, but in my spare time I love trying new beauty products and concepts. I guess it’s a hobby, as well as my profession!
